Alloy 601 is an nickel chromium alloy used for applications that require resistance to corrosion and heat. The composition is a face-centered-cubic solid solution with a high degree of metallurgical stability. Its provides resistance to many corrosive media in high temperature environments. The oxidation resistance is further enhanced by the aluminum content. The alloy 601 develops a tightly adherent oxide scale which resists pitting and chloride stress corrosion cracking even under conditions of severe thermal cycling.  This alloy has an good high temperature strength and retains its ductility after long service exposure.

Characteristics:

  •     Oxidation resistance by high temperatures
  •     Highly resistance to carburization
  •     High mechanical strength
  •     Good creep rupture strength
  •     Good weld ability
  •     Not suggested for use in strongly reducing, sulfur leaving environments

Market applications:

  •    Heat treating industry
  •    Chemical processing
  •    Power plants
  •    Aerospace
  •    Industrial furnaces
