Alloy 2205 is a duplex stainless steel with high general, localized and stress corrosion resistance properties, high strengths and outstanding impact toughness. Developed primarily to combat common corrosion problems. Duplex is superior to 316L or 317L austenitic stainless steels in most corrosive environments. The duplex alloy 2205 structure consist of austenite pools surrounded by continuous ferrite phase and contains approximately 45% ferrite. It is the most widely use grade in the duplex family of stainless steels.

Characteristics:

  •     High strength
  •     Resistant to chloride stress corrosion cracking and temperatures up to about 150°C / 302°F
  •     High resistance to chloride pitting and crevice corrosion
  •     High resistance to stress corrosion crashing fatigue and erosion
  •     Low thermal expansion and higher heat conductivity than austenitic steels

Market applications:

  •    Chemical and Petrochemical industry
  •    Oil and gas industry
  •    Seawater desalination plants
  •    Stream vessels
  •    Food processing equipment
  •    Pulp and paper industry
